We share our heartfelt congratulations to April Dickerson, who has served 20 years working tirelessly for the families we serve here at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama!
April was RMCHA’s very first employee, hired to welcome families staying in our first Ronald McDonald House, once located on 11th Avenue South in Birmingham.
April began her career as Assistant Manager of Guest Relations and now serves as Director of Family Life. Throughout her tenure she has been the primary source of support for over 20,000 families, listening to countless stories of fear, grief, hope and happiness from moms, dads, brothers, sisters, and patients themselves.
“God bless Ms. April!” has been written in many guest satisfaction surveys.
The Haddock family wrote that April made what could have been a very rough time in their lives a hopeful one.
She was encouraging to 6-year-old Violet as she endured tough physical therapy, and she was empathetic to Violet’s mom, Linda, as she watched her daughter struggle.
“Ms. April is an amazing cheerleader and is a HUGE asset to RMHCA,” wrote Linda. Violet added, “Thank you, Ms. April! You are a great lady!”
We agree!
“April is indeed the heart of our House,” says Katherine Estes Billmeier, RMHCA CEO. “She is a shining example of our mission in action.”
