Every Friday, you can find Arthur Triantos quietly making a big impact at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama. Since joining us in September 2024, Arthur has donated more than 55 hours of his time as a House Support volunteer. His role, however, has grown into much more than just housekeeping.
Whether it’s assembling playsets in the indoor playroom or organizing donations, Arthur is always ready to roll up his sleeves and help however he can.
“I just do whatever really needs to be done,” he says humbly.
One of his favorite tasks? Building the kids’ play kitchen.
“The joy I see the kids get out of that is so tangible,” Arthur shares. “Knowing I helped create something that brings happiness is really special.”— Arthur Triantos
Arthur’s journey to RMHCA began with a desire to make better use of his free time. After returning to his church and reevaluating his priorities, he began searching for meaningful ways to give back.
“I realized it really doesn’t take that much time to make a difference. Volunteering here feels like I’m doing something important with my time instead of just wasting it on myself.”
Some of his most meaningful moments at RMHCA have been simple, heartfelt interactions. He remembers one day in particular, sitting in the dining room putting together a toy while chatting with parents and staff as they passed through. “It wasn’t one big thing,” Arthur recalls, “but it was a day full of good, genuine conversations.”
When asked what he’s learned through volunteering, Arthur shares a powerful insight: “The best way to help yourself is to help others.”
And his advice to anyone considering giving their time? “Just reach out and do it. A lot of people don’t volunteer because they never take the first step. But once you do, the rewards are wonderful.”
Arthur’s story reminds us that every volunteer hour helps build more than just clean spaces or assembled toys. It builds community, compassion, and hope. We’re proud to have Arthur as part of the RMHCA family.
Volunteers, like Arthur, help support us in keeping families together while their children receive healthcare at one of Birmingham’s local hospitals. If you feel inspired, take the next step by volunteering or make a donation to support our mission.
