Community Engagement Coordinator
Overview: The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in amplifying the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama by building meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, and the broader community. This position is responsible for increasing brand awareness, fostering engagement, and serving as the face of RMHCA at public events and community initiatives.

Status: Â Full time; Exempt
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engages with the public by attending PR events, job fairs, and other outreach opportunities to promote RMHCA’s mission and programs.
- Develops and executes community engagement strategies, including creating outreach plans, establishing a speaker’s bureau, and delivering presentations to civic and social groups, community partners, donors and stakeholders.
- Represents RMHCA at signature, third-party and community events, ensuring consistent and positive visibility and engagement. Will include evening and weekend work.
- Coordinates logistics and materials for outreach activities and public appearances.
- Identifies, solicits and stewards a portfolio of community partners who give in various ways including but not limited to monetary gifts, in-kind gifts, third-party/community events and/or workplace giving to support RMHCA’s fundraising and awareness goals.
- Collaborates with the development team to identify and secure sponsorships for RMHCA’s signature events (Red Shoe Run, Golf Classic and Heart of the House Gala) and support donor cultivation and stewardship efforts.
- Works closely with RMHCA staff to align engagement efforts with organizational goals.
- Assists with all internal and external PR efforts including but not limited to Day of Change, Round Up for RMHC stewardship, etc.
Other Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties incidental to the work outlined in this position description as requested by the marketing and development teams.
- Contributes to RMHCA team efforts by maintaining positive, supportive and flexible working relationships with fellow staff and volunteers in our mutual pursuit of providing comfort and care to families of seriously ill or injured children being served by our facility.

Qualifications, skills and abilities required: Creative, energetic, highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong sales acumen; bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or similar field. Related experience in nonprofit marketing or development preferred.
- Requires valid driver’s license for travel in RMHCA branded vehicle.
- Requires moderate lifting for set up and breakdown of events, including table and tent and supplies.
- Will require work on several nights and weekends throughout the year.
- Strong interpersonal and public speaking abilities.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Creative, energetic, and detail-oriented with a sales mindset.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Canva and CRM experience preferred.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
- Dependable, excellent judgment and demonstrated ability to operate in flexible, team-oriented and collaborative environment.
