Each year our Junior Board and Student Leadership Council host our Family Christmas Party.  This is a busy time of year for everyone, but with sick or injured children in the hospital, it is especially hard for RMHCA parents who are often away from home, to focus on the holidays as they would usually do.  Holiday traditions such as pictures with Santa and making gingerbread houses are just not at the top of the to-do list when you are away from home for medical reasons.
But because of the young leaders involved with RMHCA, our guest families got to push their worries into the background for a night and enjoy in holiday traditions as if everything was normal. The night started with a delicious dinner including turkey, ham, mac and cheese, green bean casserole and more. Â And the after dinner surprises did not disappoint! Â The Secret Service escorted Santa Claus to the House and families were able to take pictures together on his knee (watch the video on our YouTube page!).
Kids were then able to enjoy crafts, decorate stockings, and even visit “Frozen Land” and meet Elsa, Anna and Olaf! Â We loved seeing the smiles and joy on each face as they came downstairs to join the party. One guest even belted out “Let it Go” to the Frozen Princesses (also on our YouTube Channel!)
We are so thankful for all involved who pulled off an amazing event and allowed RMHCA families to enjoy the holiday (and then some!) — you will want to stay up to date with our Junior Board Events and Student Leadership Council Events as these folks know how to throw a party!!
