We were delighted to meet with Adyson and Kendra Hathcock this week!
Adyson was diagnosed with Graves’ disease at the age of 9 and was treated at Children’s of Alabama.
Following her treatment, her parents felt compelled to give back as a family.
“Adyson is 14 now and I think it is so important to teach our children to love and care for others,” her mom, Kendra, says. “You never know what someone is going through and how a little act of kindness can impact their life.”
Kendra is a consultant for Thirty-One Gifts, which creates bags, totes and other items with fun prints. When they saw a design with ghosts on it, they knew they could ask Kendra’s clients to sponsor a bag for Halloween to be filled with treats for families at RMHCA.
“Today we are donating “Boo Bags” that my wonderful customers sponsored! We had 35 sponsors who donated to purchase the 75 bags and with my commission, Adyson and I filled them with goodies. This is the third time we’ve been able to do this and each time the number we are able to donate grows and grows!  My customers are amazing and I can’t wait to see what we will be working on next!” Kendra says.Kendra, Adyson, and Adyson’s friend, Abby, stopped by the House today to donate the boo bags. RMHCA staff look forward to passing out the goodies to guest families!
“We pray for each child that receives a bag and hope this small gift will bring some light and joy to their day!  We are so thankful for everyone we’ve come in contact with at Children’s Hospital and while we’ve never stayed at the Ronald McDonald House, we are thankful for the blessing it is to those families who need to be there,” Kendra says.
Adyson and Kendra know this is a small way to give back and hope it brings comfort to guest families.
“When Adyson was first diagnosed, she was very sick,” Kendra says. “She had to stop doing what she loved and it was so tough. During that time, our sweet friends, family and prayer warriors loved us through. It was a very difficult time but the love, kindness, and support of others made all the difference.”
Thank you, friends, for giving so generously!
