“If we had to drive to Birmingham and home again in a day, we’d be looking at a 12 to 16 hour day,” mom, Sandy, says. “The first day I woke up at the House and looked out the window to see the hospital, I broke down crying.”
Traveling for a child’s medical care is expensive for every family, and that can put extra stress on parents worried about buying food or trying to cook when away from home.
“The meals are amazing. Every time we walk around the corner to the dining room, we say, “Oh, it smells heavenly!”
“Everybody is so hospitable. From the time you check in, to the time you eat and then you go to bed. It’s just pure heaven. It’s honestly the truth. I can’t speak highly enough about the Ronald McDonald House,” Sandy says.
