What a wonderful piece of news to share!
Our three Pop Tab Parties netted 4,782.61 pounds of aluminum pop tabs. These little shiny pieces have been recycled and the proceeds will help cover 3 family stays at the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham. Families stay an average of 11 days so our pop tab supporters have made a big difference!
The Pop Tab Parties are for all our supporters who collect tabs, including our schools participating in the Pop Tab Pandemonium school contest. Drumroll…here are the 2018-2019 winners! (Winners are calculated by determining the pounds collected per student in the school.)
Overall: Holy Cross Episcopal School 2.42 pounds per student/157.41 pounds total
Most Collected:Â Vinemont Elementary School – 483.3 pounds
Elementary School: Concord Elementary School – 1.68 pounds per student/433.74 pounds total
Middle School: Handley Middle School – 0.29 pounds per student/164.35 pounds total
High School: Ashford High School – 0.24 pounds per student/181.55 pounds total
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to all the schools who participated! We’d also like to say a special thank you to Handley Middle School who donated snack bags and $2,000 along with their pop tab drop off.
Many thanks to our McDonald’s restaurants for being wonderful hosts and to our amazing recycling partners, Capital Recycling in Montgomery, Brother’s Recycling in Birmingham and A&S Metals in Decatur.
We are so humbled and grateful to see how everyone came together to collect these tabs and make a true difference for families we serve. They are traveling hours away from home for their child’s medical care and with your help, moms and dads don’t ever have to worry about how they’ll afford to stay near their child.
