Jeannie Morton is someone who has been familiar with the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) but just recently found a perfect niche to help families stay together when they need it most.

Jeannie serves as the Captain for the Birmingham Orthodontics Red Shoe Run team. 2017 was their first year running and they set the bar high by gathering the largest team and winning the Red Shoe Run corporate challenge!
Jeannie says she loves the event for several reasons.
“Having it just right here is what’s so strong about it. And you may need it one day, which sounds terrible. But if you do, you’ll be glad that it’s here. It’s not much work on your part to raise $25 and help someone going through life’s worst nightmare,” she said.
Jeannie says she really saw the positive impact of RMHC when some of her husband’s friends had to stay at a Ronald McDonald House while their son underwent serious surgery for a chronic illness.
Jeannie says sharing her friends’ story helps open conversations in which she can tell others how important RMHCA’s mission is and how they can help.
“It kills me to know that certain people can’t even be near their children,” she said. “When you help RMHCA, you’re making sure that families only have to focus on their child.”

Jeannie is always thinking of ways to spark friendly competition between her Red Shoe Run team members and says Facebook has been a great tool to reach her Red Shoe Run fundraising goal. She tells us that thanking every friend or relative who donated on her Facebook page not only acknowledged their contribution but would often help her reach a new donor.
We’re so grateful to have Red Shoe Run fundraisers like Jeannie!
