Have you signed up yet for Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K?
This amazing event is a celebration of the strength of our families and one of the biggest fundraisers to help our mission.
Last year, we were honored to ask the Pilgrim family of Roanoke to share their story.
After you read about their moving journey, be sure to sign up for Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K!
When Stefanie Pilgrim was only 30 weeks along in her pregnancy of her third child, she was rushed to Birmingham after developing HELLP syndrome, a life-threatening complication.
She and her husband Brian welcomed baby Mateo, who was only about 2 pounds at birth. Mom and dad were overwhelmed, to say the least. Because of your support, families like the Pilgrims can focus on what’s most important: their child.
“When we got to the hospital, we didn’t have $20 to our name,” Stefanie says, tearing up. “We expected Mateo to have to stay 10 weeks, but we went home with a healthy baby at five weeks. And for five weeks, I never had to worry about a meal or where I would lay my head.”
Having the Ronald McDonald House not only kept Stefanie and Brian near Mateo; it allowed Brian to feel OK leaving Stefanie to work back home in Roanoke, Ala. and take care of their two older children.
“Now, it is our mission to help and donate in any way we can to the Ronald McDonald House!” Stefanie says.
The Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K, presented by McDonald’s, will take place Saturday, April 13, 2024. Starting and finishing outside of the Ronald McDonald House, there will be lots of music, awards and a chance to connect with other supporters and guest families!
If a 5K or 1 Mile fun run aren’t your vibe, consider registering as a volunteer or Snoozer!
