The need to be with loved ones takes on a new urgency during the holiday season, no matter what holiday one celebrates. This yearning is especially strong for families, like the McCardles, who are facing life-threatening illness.
Following Chandler’s bone marrow transplant, his family needed a place to stay. An 8-hour drive between their hometown in Mississippi and Birmingham several times just wasn’t possible.
“Being at the Ronald McDonald House has saved us money, time and we love being close to the hospital,” Alison says. “It has been such a blessing for us to be here.”
One thing that has helped the McCardles through this time is the ability to receive mail from their community in Mississippi. It’s a physical reminder that their loved ones are rooting for them and it’s rewarding for the RMHCA team to be a small part of their story!
If you’d like to help families like the McCardles, you can make a donation here, provide a meal here or get a group of your friends together to walk/run the 2022 Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K!
