Wish2Enrich is a local non-profit that gives kids a chance to be active. The organization recently partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama and Children’s Harbor to give kids receiving medical treatment and their siblings a chance to enjoy an afternoon at Railroad Park.
Wish2Enrich set up a Mobile Impact Unit with all kinds of fun stuff — soccer balls + nets, tetherball, jenga, paint projects, wiffleball, jump ropes, and more (the list could go on and on). For four hours, families were able to enjoy one of the prettiest days Birmingham has had this year at the park and simply just be active. Kids were able to make new friends, run and play, and forget about the hospital for a little while.
Zach White, Executive Director of Wish2Enrich, told us why he wanted to be able to make an impact on the families experiencing a medical crisis, “With the Mobile Impact Clinic at Railroad Park, W2E wanted to reach an additional group of kids with hardships – those with siblings undergoing treatment – to provide a fun outlet to lift their spirits and offer a break from the daily routine.
The MIU was such a success! The kids who came had a blast playing golf and football, making art, and even writing “Cards for Kids” in Hale and Perry County. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Harbor, and Children’s of Alabama.”
We love having programs like this for our families. We are much more than just a place to stay, we want to improve the lives of our families as much as we can during their stay.
